The new self encrypting hard drives

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Seagate has announced that it is concentrating on shipment of new self encrypting hard drives for OEMs and resellers. These hard drives are of high capacity ensuring seamless self encryption of data. Without the intervention of processor, the data are encrypted before it is stored in the hard drive. Further, the writing speed is not delayed by self encryption.

The advantage of these drives is that the encryption is invisible for the users. With such hard drives, the companies need not worry about proper usage of encryption software by its employees. These hard drives are incorporated in various models of Dell computers.
